Chinese Dragon Lanterns in the Hortus Haren
Having eaten our fill of pancakes, we then wandered through the gardens of the Hortus Haren, which was featuring a Chinese lantern display. Any garden in the Netherlands is beautiful, but this was just incredible.

Sunday morning, Ted was losing his ongoing battle with a cold, so Vincent and I headed out alone to the Hunebed Museum. Hunebedden are the burial mounds of iron age inhabitants of this part of Europe. Large stones were placed on top each other, creating a frame which was then covered with earth, forming an artificial cave, wherein the dead were interred. There are over two dozen such sites known in the provinces of Groningen and Drenthe.

That evening we dined on a traditional homecooked meal courtesy the Woudstras. A delicious end to a wonderful weekend. Lekker!
Alas, only a couple more days remained of our vacation. Traveling by bus and train, we went on to the town of Haarlem, our final stop.
